This rare member of the Amaryllis family is native to South America particularly Peru, Ecuador and Colombia. All the species produce hanging tubular flowers, with most being orange to red shades. The single stem often emerging before the foliage from Summer through to early Autumn. Most produce 2 grey-green leaves. Plant in a full sun and well drained position. Top dress early Spring with a complete fertiliser. A dryer Winter rest can be beneficial to promoting flowers. Water once a week over the Summer period.
