Bomarea are a rare tuberous member of the Alstroemeriaceae family, mostly native to the Andes and into central America. The majority of the 100 plus species are climbers, giving them the common name 'climbing Alstromeria', however there are some that perform more like a ground cover. They have lush green foliage with terminal clusters of colourful pendant bells. They twine their way through the understory with dappled shade and moist well drained soils. Perfect addition to any woodland spot.
