This member of the colchicaceae family contains about 20 different species are commonly called 'Fairy Bells'. They are found mostly in the forests of Asia from the Himalayas to China. Clump forming rhizomatous tubers with deeply veined foliage and hanging, flaring tubular bells in Summer. Although inedible, Autumn brings very attractive red to black fruit. They require a moist shady position in rich humus soil. A perfect addition to any woodland garden.
