A large genus belonging to the Oxalidacaea family comprising of over 550 species and many more cultivars. They occur throughout most of the world except the polar regions, the widest distribution being in South America and South Africa. This extent of distribution leads to many varied growing requirements depending on the species. Most that we grow here enjoy a well drained full sun position. The beautiful foliage can vary from grey, green through to purple. The flowers generally come in a mixed hue of pink, orange, yellow and rarely white.
This beautiful genus still has a reputation for being weedy however there are many species that have proven themselves to be wonderful additions to garden and pot culture, with most looking their best in a pot.
