A genus of about 90 bulbous perennials belonging to the Asparagaceae family are native to the woodlands, meadows and coastal areas of Europe, Africa and the Middle East. The flowers are usually blue, however pink white and purple forms can be found. Most blooming in Spring however there are a few Autumn flowering species. They require at least morning sun and soil should be enriched with a complete fertiliser. Only need additional water if Spring conditions are drier than normal. Naturalised they are an exceptionally beautiful display in Spring.
