A genus of about 33 species, including Tree Peonies, from Europe, Asia and North America. They date back to ancient Greek times where they were prized for the medicinal values found in some species. Double Herbaceous Peonies, are probably the longest lived of any garden perennial flowering from late October through to early December. Given good soil, sunshine and a cool situation, including some frosts (a requirement for bud development), they will provide a wealth of lovely blooms each year. Will benefit from water once a week during the flowering period. Remove old foliage during Winter and top dress with generous amounts of lime and Blood and Bone. A fabulous cut flower, much sought after by Brides!
Available May to August
