Eichler's Tulip. This exquisite species from Turkey through to the Caucasus Mountains has large 'fire engine' red flowers with a  contrasting black blotch in the centre. Dad had a great love for Tulips but especially the species. This one he never got to grow but would have soon become a favorite. My original stock came from my very dear friend Jon. It is this kind of generosity so often found in the bulb world that makes it all worth it!
