Commonly called Mayapple, native to Missouri where it occurs in both moist and dry woodland areas throughout the State. From a single stem, each plant grows one or two, deeply-divided, palmately-lobed pale green leaves  with a beautiful single, nodding, waxy, 6-9-petaled, white flower. A beautiful woodlander!
