This beautiful galanthus can be found in open woodland areas from Romania and Crimea.  During the Crimean war many British soldiers were amazed at the fields of Galanthus flowering after the harsh Winter, many taking bulbs home with them.  The name 'plicatus' meaning 'pleated' refers to the folds or pleat lines in the foliage.  Flowers are of perfect form and naturalise well.
